To mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the team at Arnison Heelis held a traditional street party–style lunch in the office.
Everyone got involved by bringing in home-baked and homemade food, and the result was a brilliant spread of paste sandwiches, ration-style cakes, scones, trifles and plenty more. The tables were lined with bunting and Union Jack flags, and wartime music played in the background to set the scene.
The lunch gave us a chance to step away from our desks, sit together, and reflect on the importance of the day. VE Day marked the end of conflict in Europe in 1945, and 80 years on, it remains a time to remember the resilience and community spirit shown during those years.
It was a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon — a small way for us to honour the occasion and spend time together as a team.
